Born and raised in Cleveland and Akron, Ohio, Kamilah Jenkins took an untraditional route into software engineering. She worked as a researcher in UWMC’s Physical Rehabilitation department when she first moved to Seattle and joined Ada Developers Academy shortly after. Her background in psychology and skillset in frontend/UI development led to her current internship at Textio. Textio is a machine learning startup that produces a predictive text engine to analyze and rate documents. The outcome? More diverse and highly qualified teams.
Aside from work, her goals are to learn as much as she can in order to give back to her communities, to bring about social awareness through captivating visualizations, and to make her Goldendoodle puppy an official therapy dog.
